THERAPIST, EDUCATOR & CREATOR OF PATHWAY TO A FULL PRACTICE
Most therapists know deep in their bones that sales tactics don’t fit with the work we do.
But we can still find ourselves following advice that's been around since the 1950s: just "get out there and sell yourself."
If you're like me, you have a gut-level resistance to pushing on people's pain points or positioning yourself as the answer to their problems.
It doesn't feel good and it's not a good look, either.
Welcome to the effective, ethical alternative for self-employed therapists. Because your success should never depend on going against what you believe.

Your job isn’t to convince everyone to work with you. It’s to communicate what you do with enough clarity and honesty that the right people can recognise whether your work is right for them.
Good marketing helps people make informed choices
You don’t need to have the biggest audience. When people understand what you do, believe in the way you do it, and trust you to do it well, you’ve created something far more valuable than visibility alone.
Trust is more powerful than attention
The care, boundaries and respect you bring to your work with clients can shape the way you build your practice, too. You don't have to leave your professional values behind in order to succeed.
Your values extend beyond the treatment room
Before you can build the practice you want, you have to know what you’re building towards. Get clear on your vision, take ownership of your mindset and choices, and commit to the future you want to create.
Success starts on the inside
A thriving practice grows through the people who know your work, the clients who trust you, the colleagues who recommend you, and the relationships you nurture along the way.
Relationships are how strong practices grow

"Nothing about mainstream marketing sits comfortably with me. I hate the hard sell, the social media frenzy. Sara's approach is soulful, compassionate and humane."
Pathway brings all the different elements of building a practice together in one place.
It covers the things I wish I'd been taught alongside my own professional training: how to talk about what you do in a way people understand, how to become more visible and build trust, how to create a great experience for your clients, develop relationships and referrals, and get the systems behind your practice working properly.
But it also recognises something that conventional business advice often misses: building a practice is personal. Confidence, self-belief, boundaries and professional identity matter just as much as websites and marketing.
Pathway brings this inner work together with the outer work, so that you're not simply trying to "get more clients". Instead, you're learning to show up consistently in the ways that matter and make your practice grow.
So...what is Pathway to a Full Practice?

As a newly qualified therapist, I didn't start out with a clear plan. I was passionate about the work itself, but in all honesty I was a bit overwhelmed by everything else.
Marketing especially felt uncomfortable and oddly at odds with the values that had drawn me to therapeutic work in the first place. I wondered, was it a lack of confidence? Was it because I was an introvert? Or was I just not cut out to be self-employed?
Instead of trying to network harder or master social media, I decided to trust my gut, and do something different.
I took therapeutic principles - like safety, consent, empathy, empowerment - and applied them to everything I did, from how I formed professional relationships, to how clients experienced my website, first contact and referrals.
The challenge isn't learning how to help people. It's learning how to build a practice.
The same qualities that help therapists build trust inside the treatment room can help build a thriving practice outside the treatment room.
"The same qualities that help therapists build trust inside the treatment room can help build a thriving practice outside the treatment room."
This felt so much better than conventional marketing. Just as importantly, it worked.
My Craniosacral Therapy practice filled, and before long I was working full-time. When I relocated to a different city years a few years later, I did the same things to build from the ground up, and again grew to fully booked with a waitlist.
Over time, this approach developed into Pathway to a Full Practice. And it can work for you, too.

"Amazing value for money and the warm, encouraging support from Sara hits the spot every time. I have been self-employed for 12 years and run a fairly successful practice but always thought something was missing. I have gained so much knowledge of client-centred, ethical marketing, website design and honing my processes. On top of that, I've learned what has been holding me back. Trust your instincts and go for it."
